Homemade Mold Bread

Homemade Mold Bread

Sure! Here's a basic recipe for making homemade mold bread:

Ingredients:

  • 4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 packet (2 1/4 teaspoons) active dry yeast
  • 1 1/4 cups warm water (110°F/43°C)
  • 1 tablespoon sugar
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil (optional, for flavor)
  • Cornmeal or flour (for dusting)

Instructions:

  1. Activate the Yeast:

    • In a small bowl, combine warm water and sugar. Stir to dissolve the sugar.
    • Sprinkle the active dry yeast over the water and let it sit for about 5-10 minutes until it becomes foamy.
  2. Prepare the Dough:

    • In a large mixing bowl, combine the flour and salt.
    • Make a well in the center and pour in the activated yeast mixture.
    • If using olive oil, add it to the mixture.
    • Gradually incorporate the flour into the wet ingredients, mixing until a dough forms.
  3. Knead the Dough:

    • Transfer the dough to a floured surface and knead for about 8-10 minutes until the dough becomes smooth and elastic.
  4. First Rise:

    • Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover it with a damp cloth, and let it rise in a warm place for about 1-1.5 hours or until it doubles in size.

  5. Punch Down and Shape:

    • Once the dough has risen, punch it down to release air bubbles.
    • Turn it onto a floured surface and shape it into a loaf.
  6. Second Rise:

    • Place the shaped dough into a greased and floured loaf pan.
    • Cover it with a damp cloth and let it rise for another 30-45 minutes.
  7. Preheat the Oven:

    • Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
  8. Bake:

    • If desired, you can slash the top of the bread with a sharp knife before baking.
    • Bake the bread in the preheated oven for 25-30 minutes or until it is golden brown and sounds hollow when tapped on the bottom.

  9. Cool:

    • Allow the bread to cool in the pan for about 10 minutes before transferring it to a wire rack to cool completely.
  10. Slice and Enjoy:

    • Once the bread is completely cooled, slice it and enjoy your homemade mold bread!
Feel free to experiment with different flours or add-ins like seeds or herbs to customize the flavor of your bread. Homemade bread is a delightful treat, and the process can be very rewarding!
